ABOUT THE DAY
Join Freemasons, their families and friends from Provinces throughout the English Constitution on this unique day in London. Freemasonsʼ Hall, opened on 19th July 1923 is conveniently located near Covent Garden; famous for its shops and restaurants. West End Theatres and Londonʼs major tourist attractions are just a short walk, bus or Tube ride away. This is an ideal opportunity for Freemasons and non-Freemasons to visit UGLE and enjoy the highly commended Prestonian Lecture. Non-Freemasons are then at liberty to join one of our specially commissioned tours of the building or go into London and enjoy the sights of the city whilst the Brethren join members of the Master Masons Forum who will perform the Second Degree Ceremony and Tracing Board. This is the inaugural meeting of what is anticipated to be an annual event for Master Masons Forums (MMFs), New and Young Masons Clubs (NYMCs) and Freemasons in general, to come together with their families and friends each year for a day of Masonic and social activities, to support a strong national bond between clubs from the different Provinces and which may become an international event in future years.
SECOND DEGREE CEREMONY AND TRACING BOARD
The ceremony of Passing will be conducted by 22 volunteer members of the Master Masons Forum, sharing the work and performing a uniquely rehearsed Second Degree Ceremony of strict Emulation Ritual followed by an explanation of the Second Degree Tracing Board.
THE 2012 PRESTONIAN LECTURE
For his 2012 Prestonian Lecture, ʻScouting & Freemasonry: two parallel organisations?ʼ W.Bro Tony Harvey details the numerous parallels between Freemasonry and Scouting, and the three major differences. He addresses the question of whether the Founder of Scouting, Robert Baden-Powell was a Freemason, as well as the ways in which Freemasonry may have influenced Scouting and examines the contributions of Masonic Scouters. He describes the current and potential future relationships between Freemasonry and Scouting at national and local levels and gives examples of how such relationships are working today. Finally he outlines his personal vision of how Freemasonry and Scouting can be of help to each other as they both face challenges in our rapidly changing society.
