Summer BBQ/ Freemasonry in the Community Event

  • Rough Close Scout Campsite (map)

Be Prepared

The Five of Nine Club’s next Freemasonry in the Community event will be held in conjunction with a Summer BBQ and will take place at Rough Close Scout Campsite on the 30th July 2017, this an event for the whole family!

Rough Close is a large scout campsite located just outside of Meriden, Coventry in the Warwickshire countryside.

Freemasonry has long held a close association with the Scouting movement and we hope to strengthen this bond and help them carry on their great work with children from all walks of life and in particular those children with disabilities that use this fantastic facility.  We will be cleaning and painting one of the Campsites Cabins ‘The Norton Cabin’, this is a large cabin, which is used regularly by the scouting world and includes facilities for any children or campers with disabilities.

We are currently aiming for a 10:00 am start and aim to complete the painting/summer clean by about 2:00 pm. The campsite has good facilities for showering/changing afterwards if needed.

We will have activities available for children and families, including football, Cricket, Mega Jenga and Giant Connect 4, we are also planning a mini orienteering activity/walk for the whole family. The facilities are available for members to camp overnight with their families, with limited numbers inside the cabin and up to 50 on the field opposite.

After our Freemasonry in the Community event, we will host our first summer BBQ, the catering of BBQ and soft drinks will be provided by one of our committee members Bro Warwick Wakefield who runs his own catering business Ready to Roast, any specific dietary requirements please get in touch!

The cost for this event is:

  • £5 for members
  • £7.50 for non-members
  • Children free
