The Five of Nine Club are heading South!

  • Freemasons Hall Park Street Bristol BS1 5NH United Kingdom (map)

On Saturday 10th February we are heading to the Province of Bristol, where we will be attending one of the newest Masonic Lodges being not even a year old; Scoutcraft Lodge No 9936 at Freemasons Hall, Bristol to witness a 1st degree ceremony, this ceremony of initiation will be completed in full Bristol Workings.

Bristol Workings

The Bristol Craft ceremonies are believed to date from a period long before the Union of 1813 – one authority has suggested from about 1724. They are considerably different from those worked in the rest of the English Constitution – more elaborate and dramatic. They have affinities in many respects with Irish and American workings. These differences are what draw so many visitors from all parts of the country, and abroad, to witness their workings. They are also the reason why Bristol Lodges are so frequently asked to perform demonstrations in other Provinces. Bristol Workings are unique. Although the Masonic ceremonies across the United Grand Lodge of England have the same meaning.

The Province of Bristol consists of 37 Craft Lodges – all of whom strive to perform the three degrees of Craft masonry to the highest standards. Ritual books are banned during their ceremonies and therefore each degree must be performed by memory.

This may be your first visit out of Warwickshire or it could be your first visit of the new year or even your first visit outside of your mother Lodge, either way, the meeting will be very interesting and it would be great to see as many of you as we can to support our brethren as they welcome a new brother into Freemasonry.

Please be assured that regardless of where you are in your Masonic Journey, be that newly initiated, Fellow Craft or Master Mason we will support you throughout this event, you may also like to bring along a fellow brother or even your Lodge Mentor so that you may both make an advancement in Masonic knowledge.

Our intention will be to car share to Bristol which will be arranged nearer to the visit (a number of the Committee members have already volunteered to act as chauffeur for our members).

This event is open to all Club members and we also offer an extended invitation to all brethren.
